White House Christmas Reception Invitation

This card was an invitation to the White House Christmas party on December 10, 2003. The White House was decorated with 19 Christmas trees, 70,000 lights, four 12-foot nutcracker statues and 43 life-sized papier-mache storybook figures.

Description

The buffet table centerpiece featured a sculpture of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that contained 80 pounds of chocolate. Guests also saw a gingerbread replica of the White House that contained 80 pounds of gingerbread, 45 pounds of chocolate and 30 pounds of marzipan. The Official White House Christmas Tree in the Blue Room came from the farm of Jim and Diane Chapman of Wisconsin. It was decorated with ornaments passed down from the Bush family and that were first used in the White House by Barbara Bush in 1989.
